He was a schoolmaster who signed amateur papers for Tottenham Hotspur after playing for Tottenham Juniors between 1930 & 1933. He made a number of appearances in the reserves & 'A' teams before transferring to Harwich & Parkeston in 1936 where former Spur Bert Smith was coach.
