The stadium & surrounding complex was bought by Arthur (later Sir Arthur, MBE) Elvin who became Managing Director of Wemley Stadiums Ltd in 1927. He complemented the sporting activities held in the stadium by building the Empire Pool & Sports Arena that opened its doors in 1934.
