Perpendicular: the trophy for the Prix Zino Davidoff Preis Der Deutschen Einheit, 3rd October 1992, in the form of a continental silver salver, inscribed with race details, length 44.5cm., 17 1/2in. Perpendicular was a bay colt by Shirley Heights out of Pris. He was owned by Lord Howard de Walden, trained by Henry Cecil and ridden by Willie Ryan when winning the present Group 3 race at Hoppegarten in Germany. The colt won a total of 5 races including the Prince of Wales's Stakes (when it was a Group 2 event) at Royal Ascot and the Listed ROA Foundation Stakes at Goodwood, where he beat subsequent multiple Group 1 winner Opera House.
