The celebrated race between Mr Lamego's Little Driver (his full name) and Aaron took place at Maidenhead in April 1754. Driver eventually won the £50 race after both of them had fallen near the finish. The two horses raced against each other on other occasions and their rivalry led to the creation of a number of paintings and engravings.
