He finished second to Orbit in the third running of the Eclipse Stakes in 1888, giving the Duke of Westminster a first and second in the race. This probably explains the unusual practice of preserving a runners-up racing plate. Career victories included the Criterion Stakes & The Royal Post Stakes at Newmarket, the Prince of Wales's Stakes and a dead-heat in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot & York's Great Yorkshire Stakes.
