In turn, Gates presented the shirt to James Lipthorpe who had performed all the detailed planning for the player's Testimonial. A certificate of appreciation in this respect is included in the lot. The shirt was sold at an internet auction on www.sothebys.com in 1999 where it was purchased by the current vendor.
