A rare ticket for the XVIth Olympiad Equestrian Games in Stockholm 1956, for the opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium, 10th June To avoid the problems of quarantine for horses entering Australia, the equestrian sports were held in Melbourne and in Stockholm in June and November 1956. This is the only time in the Games history that the 'unity of time and place', as stipulated in the Olympic Charter, has not been observed.
