Cooper of Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1889, enamelled with a coat of arms and inscribed BIRMINGHAM & DISTRICT FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION , WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS, RUNNERS UP, 1889, J. COOPER In this same season Cooper was a member of the Wolves team who reached the F.A. Cup final, losing to Aston Villa 3-0. Cooper had previously played for Long Eaton Rangers and also became a council member of the Football Association.
