A group of six Tottenham Hotspur cashed cheques, i) dated 29.3.1939 & payable to Newcastle United FC for £357-14-7; ii) dated 15.1.68 & payable to Southampton FC for £80,000; iii) dated 12.2.69 & payable to Queen's Park Rangers FC for £100,000; iv) dated 19.3.70 & payable to West Ham United FC for £69,600; v) dated 28.5.70 & payable to West Ham United FC for £60,000; vi) dated 30.6.71 & payable to Burnley FC for £71,000 The first cheque does not appear to relates to a transfer fee and is therefore presumably for gate receipts. The second cheque was for the signing of Martin Chivers for £125,000 from Southampton, minus the £45,000 paid for Frank Saul in a part exchange. Cheque three is for the full transfer fee of Roger Morgan from QPR. Cheques 4 & 5 relate to two instalments in respect of the transfer of Martin Peters from West Ham for a then record British fee of £200,000, minus £54,000 for Jimmy Greaves in a part exchange. Cheque 6 is for the record cash transfer fee of Ralph Coates for £190,000 and appears to be one several instalments paid by Spurs.
