Simonsen scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot. Alan Simonsen was capped 55 times for Denmark. He was voted European Football of the Year in 1977 and won two UEFA Cup winner's medals at Borussia Monchengladbach and a Cup Winner's Cup medal at Barcelona.
