A 9ct. gold Birmingham & District F.L. winner's medal won by Aston Villa's appropriately named C. Aston in 1899-1900, inscribed with the above details to the reverse and the player's monogram to the obverse appendix Charlie Aston (Aston Villa and Watford) Lots 35 & 36 Charlie Aston played for Villa between 1897 and 1900 before transferring to Watford. Aston was also a musician and after his playing days was a band member aboard the ocean liner Balmoral Castle on the Southampton to Cape Town route.
