A countertop display made for George Gunn's Nottingham sports shop in the form of miniature models of sporting equipment circa 1890s, maker's stamp with Prince of Wales's Feathers for Trimmings, comprising a fine group of ivory and wood miniature models of sports equipment, comprising sixteen cricket bats, two sets of cricket stumps and bails, a cricket ball, other sports comprising a lawn tennis racquet, three fencing swords, two battledores, three games bases and a post marker, three dumbbells and two Indian clubs, all displayed in a wooden and brass cased with curved glass cover, 42 by 27.5 by 25cm., 16 1/2 by 10 3/4 by 10in.; sold with a signed letter of provenance from the present vendor, a family descendant of George Gunn, the England and Nottinghamshire cricketer and joint-founder of the Gunn and Moore sports company (2)
