Jack Kelsey's silver runners-up medal from the inaugural final of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 1955-58, the obverse engraved with an image of the competition trophy, the reverse inscribed COUPE DES VILLES DE FOIRES TROPHEE NOEL BEARD, FINALISTE, 1957, now attached to a later 'lucky horseshoe' The first Fairs Cup (later renamed the UEFA Cup) was a long drawn out affair. The first preliminary match was played between FC Barcelona and a Copenhagen XI on Christmas Day 1955. Barcelona progressed to the two-leg final against a London representative XI in March and May 1958. Jack Kelsey kept goal in both matches, the first at Stamford Bridge that ended in a 2-2 draw, the second at the Nou Camp where the Londoners were overwhelmed 6-0.
