The hooves of the racehorse Colonia incorporated into the design of a footstool, by Rowland Ward Ltd of Piccadilly, the four hooves with metal mounts simulating horse hair and connected by metal strutting, affixed to the wooden base of a footstool upholstered in pale blue fabric with floral designs, set with an ivorine plaque inscribed COLLONIA [sic], 46 by 30.5cm., 18 by 12in. Colonia was foaled in 1903 by Persimmon out of Sandblast and sister of Royal Realm who won the New Stakes at Ascot, the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood, the Gimcrack stakes at York, the Rous Plate at Doncaster and the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket to record total winnings of ?4,628.
