After H. Sperling ARD PATRICK (THE 1902 DERBY WINNER) monochrome lithograph, the image 33 by 43cm., 13 by 17in., framed & glazed Mr John Gubbins's colt Ard Patrick was trained by Sam Darling and was involved in the first great clashes of champions of the 20th century. Having lost to the generation's outstanding filly Sceptre in the 2,000 Guineas, Ard Patrick beat her on the next two occasions they met firstly in the Derby and then in the 1903 Eclipse Stakes with a field also including that year's Derby winner Rock Sand.
