Colonel Hall-Walker won the Gimcrack Stakes three years in succession with Colonia (see lot 50) in 1905, Polar Star in 1906 and Royal Realm in 1907 which at the time was an unprecedented feat. In 1909 Lily Rose provided a fourth victory. At his Gimcrack Speeches, the Colonel first outlined his vision of creating a National Stud.
