A Victorian clay smoker's pipe with football and rugby decoration circa 1894, design registered by Samuel McLardy of 6 Shudehill, Manchester, 6th October 1894, in raised relief either side of the large bowl, the underside with boot and ball support, design registration mark RD. NO. 241693, length 21.5cm., 8 1/2in., a photostat of the registered design is included in the lot; sold together with a 26th January 1879 edition of The Referee newspaper edited by Pendragon, with football coverage on pages 3 & 6, as well as other sporting coverage (3) not illustrated
