A rare stevengraph baseball silk entitled 'The First Innings' circa 1880s, by Thomas Stevens of Coventry, England, depicting an early baseball match in progress with six American flags, executed in woven silk, titled on the original card mount, original wooden frame, the backboard pasted with Stevens's paper advertisement label, overall 17 by 24cm., 6 1/2 by 9 1/2in. Thomas Stevens produced a number of sporting designs, but this was his only baseball subject. It did not prove popular and was soon discontinued, making it a rare and desirable baseball collectible.
