An Accrington F.C. runners-up medal from the Lancashire Cup in season 1881-82, unhallmarked but probably silver, the obverse with Lancashire rose and football motifs and a Lancashire Football Association monogram, the reverse inscribed RUNNERS UP, ACCRINGTON, WILLIAM EASTHAM, 1881-82 This early medal relates to Accrington Football Club, one of the founding members of the Football League, but pre-dates the FL by some six years. The 1881-82 Lancashire Cup was on the third year of this prestigious competition.
