This medal is illustrated p.47 No 4 in Gadoury ''Medailles et Monnaies Olympiques''. It is commonly found in bronze, but the silver issues are far rarer. Although not an Olympic Participation Medal it is regarded amongst collectors to be the nearest substitute in order to have 1900 representation in a collection. Another scarce version of the medal is in gilt bronze (see next lot).
