A rare poster announcing the appearance of Stanley Matthews at the New Tivoli Theatre, Hull, in July 1949 in the ''new craze of football tennis'', framed & glazed, 86 by 28cm., 33 3/4 by 11in. Due to the historic low wages played to professional footballers, it was not unusual for footballers to take up work during the close season. Stanley Matthews often appeared with his brother Ron in these entertaining theatre appearances of tennis football.
