The jockey's prize for the Singapore Turf Club Lion City Cup of 1976, in the form of a 9ct. gold mounted leather jockey whip, the gold band inscribed, SINGAPORE TURF CLUB, THE LION CITY CUP, 1976, the handle end set with a gold cap engraved with the crest of the Singapore Turf Club, 75cm., 29 1/2in. In 1976 and 1977 (see next lot) Lester Piggott rode back-to-back victories aboard the Ivan W. Allan trained Blue Star.
