A Sporting Record 'Performance of the Week' award presented to David Mould in December 1962, in the form of an engraved Ronson cigarette lighter; sold together with a qty. of period b&w press photographs featuring episodes from the riding career of David Mould (a qty.) The Sporting Record award was presented to David Mould for his win aboard the Peter Cazalet-trained Kapeno in the 3m 2f Old Year Chase at Fontwell Park 22nd December 1962. Kapeno later competed in three Grand Nationals and was running his best race in 1967 when lying third at Becher's Brook second time round. A fence later, however, he became one of the many victims of the pile-up caused by the riderless Popham Down. This lot includes a b&w press photograph of David Mould aboard Kapeno leading the Grand National field over The Chair in the 1966 Grand National.
