Official racecard for the first running of the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown Park 23 July 1886, held and mounted in a double-glazed frame, 39 by 24cm., 15 by 10in. The Eclipse Stakes was the first horse race to be run with a purse of ?10,000, donated by Leopold de Rothschild. The first winner in 1886 was Bendigo.
