Cup final at Wembley, an official unnumbered spare by Umbro, maroon with narrow white stripes, short-sleeved, embroidered cloth badge inscribed WEMBLEY, 1956 In the 1956 Cup final at Wembley Manchester City beat Birmingham City 3-1. As both teams played in blue, both teams wore a change strip on the day. See following lot for an example of a shirt of their opponents Birmingham City. The match was made famous by the City goalkeeper Bert Trautmann, in an era of no substitutes, bravely playing on despite that fact the unknowingly he had broken a bone in his neck following an accidental collision with Birmingham's Peter Murphy in the 75th minute.
