George Cohen: a signed England No.2 jersey circa 1965-1966, signed to the inside back of the shirt in blue biro by George Cohen and inscribed [erroneously] JULY 30 1966, long-sleeved, crew-neck collar George Cohen was mistaken in thinking that this shirt related to the 1966 World Cup final, as it does not have the correct size three lions badge. It does, however, date from a very similar period and their are two possibilities. England's final pre-World Cup tour match against Poland in Chorzow, 5th July 1966, or the friendly v West Germany in Nurnberg 12th May 1965. The latter was the first occasion that England wore this style of red Umbro away shirt, made iconic by its employment in the 1966 World Cup final 30th July 1966.
