Enquire nowA fine miscellany of 20 football programmes dating between 1896 and 1945, comprising: a match card for Corinthians v West Bromwich Albion (friendly fixture played at Queen's Club West Kensington 8th February 1896); two Chester home programmes, v Atherton 5th March 1914 (Lancashire Combination Division One fixture, professionally restored) and v Runcorn 25th October 1930 (last season before Chester's election to the Football League); Holland v Scotland international programme played in Amsterdam 21st May 1938; three pre-war Walsall home programmes, comprising: Darlaston 16th October 1920, Blackburn Rovers F.A. Cup 3rd Round replay programme 15th January 1931, and Hull City 27th August 1932; a group of six pre-war F.A. Cup tie programmes, comprising a very rare Chesterfield v Irthlingborough Town 19th November 1921 (4th Qualifying Round), Clapton Orient v Swansea season 1923-24 (2nd replay), Hounslow v Wycombe Wanderers from the abandoned 1939-40 F.A. Cup competition (an Extra Preliminary Round fixture played 2nd September), and Portsmouth v Newcastle United 12th January 1924 (with the programme on the line-up pages signed by five later Portsmouth footballers, Jimmy Scholar, Ronnie Rooke, Duggie Reid, Johnny Stephens & Harry Ferrier); two pre-war Gateshead away programmes at Doncaster Rovers 31st December 1932 and at Stockport County 29th September 1934 (both Third Division (north) fixtures); Everton v Oldham Athletic 2nd April 1913; Reading v Bradford City 26th December 1929; QPR v Merthyr Town 29th March 1930; Peterborough & Fletton v Southampton reserves 3rd May 1930; & Maidenhead United v Arsenal (Maidenhead Hospital Cup) 12th May 1945; the lot also including a typescript letter from Walsall Football Club signed by the Secretary E.G. Wilson and relating to the 1931 Cup tie v Blackburn Rovers for which the programmes has been previously described and included in this lot (21)
