Sir Gordon Richards's bowling woods, a Size 3 set of four flat green lignum vitae bowls by Thomas Taylor of Glasgow, each engraved with the initials G.R. , in original leather carrying case stamped G.R.; sold together with a pair of his father's crown green bowls, size 3 in lignum vitae, engraved with the initials WNR, and presentation inscription FROM A FEW FRIENDS, 1919, in original leather carrying case stamped W.N.R.; sold with a signed letter of provenance from Kintbury Bowling Club In his retirement Sir Gordon and Lady Dorothy lived in Kintbury village. Sir Gordon was a keen bowler and was a regular player at Kintbury as well as a spell as president of the club. When he became too old to bowl he donated his wood together with those of his father, a crown green bowler, to Kintbury Bowls Club where they have been on display for a great many years. Kintbury Bowling Club are selling the sets of woods now to help raise urgent funds.
