Start a valuationA boxing silk produced in anticipation of the [cancelled[ Jem Mace v Joe Coburn Great International Contest for the Championship of the World, 4th October 1864 centrally featuring St George and the Dragon, also inscribed JM [Jem Mace], approx. 83cm., 32 in. square The boxers could not agree on a referee and the scheduled fight was cancelled. Temporarily it looked as if things were back on for 14th October, but negotiations fell through and the Mace/Coburn encounter never took place. They did finally meet in the ring in 1871.
