A group of four period photograph featuring Alf Common, the first the earliest known image of Alf Common in a football context circa 1895-96, aged about 15, and in a 6 by 8in. team-group photograph of St Cuthberts AFC, Sunderland; together with the oldest known footballing image of Alf Common, dating to the 1930s, and for what appears to be a veterans' match; in between are two photographs of Alf Common in army football teams during the First World War, Kitchener Camp Mechanical Section (6 by 8in.) and the I W & D R E Regimental team (9 1/2 by 11 /2), both season 1917-18
