Lyall Watson (1908-1994) THE SCOTS AT WEMBLEY watercolour on paper laid down on board, handwritten label to reverse inscribed LYALL WATSON, 'THE SCOTS AT WEMBLEY', WATER-COLOUR, 237 KENNINGTON ROAD, SE11, 51.5 by 66.5cm., 20 1/4 by 26 1/4in., in original frame A painter of bizarre figures, Lyall Watson attended Clapham Road Arts School and Goldsmiths' College School of Art 1926-29. His first solo exhibition was at the Piccadilly Arts Club in 1929. Watson taught P.E. and arts at Millbank Demonstration School 1930-36. The artist was also a part-time mural painter 1935-39 training at City and Guilds Art School, completing murals in Lambeth Public Library and elsewhere 1935-58.
