Consequently it was a difficult night for the Chelsea defender who received a mixed reception from the Wembley crowd. It also proved a difficult night for England who found themselves an early goal down to the North African visitors. However, a double substitution from Fabio Capello at half-time proved conclusive with replacements Peter Crouch netting a brace and Shaun Wright-Phillips the other to secure a 3-1 win.
