A fine quality silver plated goblet presented to Connie Mason of Middlesex Ladies Athletics Club in recognition of her World One Mile Walk Record of 7 minutes 53 4/5 seconds at Hampton in June 1931, decorated with swags of ribbons and bunches of grapes, presentation engraving, height 19cm., 7 1/2in.; sold together with a scan of The Times 13th July 1931, and an original Illustrated Sporting & Dramatic News 17th January 1931 (3) The scanned Times in this lot records that Connie Mason advanced her World Record time to 7 minutes 45 3/5 seconds at the Women's Amateur Athletics Championships held at Stamford Bridge the previous Saturday; whilst the Sporting & Dramatic News carries a photograph of Connie Mason winning the Two Mile Road Walk Championship held by the Middlesex Ladies Athletics Club. The winning time is reported as 17 minutes 50 seconds.
