A very rare Denby pottery tennis-themed lemonade jug with matching beaker circa 1890, in a light brown ground with a treacle brown glaze fired to the top half, decorated in relief with an applied cartouche containing pair of crossed convex wedge rackets, three lawn tennis balls and a tennis net with guy-rope supported poles, the base of the handle has vine leaf and grapes applied and the jug is heightened in gilt, chip and hair-line crack to rim, the beaker with matching design, chip to outer rim, height of jug & beaker 17cm., 6 3/4in. & 11.5cm. 4 1/2in. respectively
