At the time of this game he was a Premier League player with Tottenham Hotspur for whom he made 18 League appearances and scored 4 goals. In 1995 he was loaned out to Sevilla before a short spell with West Ham in 1996. At international level he formed a formidable front line partnership with Gheorghe Hagi and Florin Raducioiu and played at the 1994 World Cup. He won 62 caps in total and scored 20 goals.
