Phyllis Satterthwaite was described by Lance Tingay as ''a notoriously sticky performer.'' She reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon on five occasions. Mrs Satterthwaite also set up a record of 450 strokes in a final on the Riviera that lasted approx. 19 1/2 minutes.
