A rare tennis court marker by B. Hirst & Sons of Halifax circa 1885, with registered number 11482 moulded into the cast iron, the wooden grips are missing, but otherwise in good condition The lawn tennis section of The Badminton Library, edited by C.G. Heathcote, stated 'the principle is that of the common water-wheel, raising the whiting to a platform, whence it is discharged upon a marking-wheel 1 1/2in. in width.'
