ENGEL The 'London to Exeter and Back Winter Club Run' began on Boxing Day 1910 and generated 81 entries on two, three and four wheels. Still running to this day, successful competitors start in the evening and finish where they began the following afternoon, having covered nearly 500 miles at a predetermined average speed on indifferent roads in winter weather.
