1926 MCC Exeter Trial Car Class Finishers 9ct Gold Medal, the obverse featuring a relief figure of Victory between St Paul's and Exeter Cathedrals and inscribed MOTOR CYCLING CLUB, FOUNDED 1901, LONDON, EXETER, the reverse engraved LONDON -EXETER-LONDON, CAR, DEC 27-28, 1926, S.L. ENGEL The 'London to Exeter and Back Winter Club Run' began on Boxing Day 1910 and generated 81 entries on two, three and four wheels. Still running to this day, successful competitors start in the evening and finish where they began the following afternoon, having covered nearly 500 miles at a predetermined average speed on indifferent roads in winter weather.
