A continental gilt & enamel Coupe Jean Galia rugby league winner's medal awarded to Martin Ryan of England in 1949-50, inscribed FEDERATION FRANCAISE DE JEU A13, M. RYAN, ENGLAND, COUPE JEAN GALIA, 1950, ANGLETERRE, EMPIRE BRITANNIQUE, PAYS DE GALLES, FRANCE, mounted in a frame between sheets of perspex with photograph, printed career honours & title plaque, 24.5 by 30cm., 9 3/4 by 11 3/4. A rare post-war Rugby League medal. This international tournament in France ran for just 9 years between 1947 and 1957, except for 1954 due to the first World Cup.
