An extremely rare pear-shaped fretwork table tennis bat circa 1900, measuring 32 by 14.5 cm., the bat is in perfect condition with no splits or warping, with a fine golden patina to the surface, complete with a wooden boxed set of ''Tennis de Salon'' with a pair of strung bats, a truly fine example, box in need of attention (2) These bats appear to have been made in the form of just three shapes, square, round and pear-shaped.
