An Amsterdam 1928 Olympic Games gold winner's prize medal awarded to the Swedish heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler Rudolf Svensson (1899-1978), in silver-gilt, designed by Prof. Giuseppe Cassioli that proved to be the enduring design for the obverse with Victory seated above a stadium, the reverse with a winner being carried by jubilant athletes, 55mm. J. Rudolf ''Starke Rudolf'' Svensson (1899-1978) was a Swedish wrestler who competed in three successive Olympic Games between 1924 and 1932. At Paris in 1924 he won the silver medal in the Greco-Roman light heavyweight competition as well as in the freestyle light heavyweight event. Four years later in Amsterdam he won the gold medal being offered here in the Greco-Roman heavyweight competition. Svensson claimed a second Olympic gold medal at Los Angeles in 1932 in the light-heavyweight division.
