After Alfred Rogers (19th century) A BIRD THAT MUST BE KEPT IN THE BIRDCAGE; THE GRAND OLD JOCKEY (A PAIR) colour lithographs of the rival Victorian jockeys Fred Archer and George Fordham, the Birdcage a reference to the area of the racecourse at Newmarket bearing that name, the Grand Old Man a reference to the fact that Fordham was a good deal older than Archer at the height of their Turf rivalry, identically mounted, framed & glazed, each overall 45 by 34.5cm., 17 1/2 by 13 1/2in.
