Arsenal's Kelsey played in the four internationals this season: against England at Cardiff (2-1), Scotland in Glasgow (0-2), Austria in Wrexham (1-2) and N.Ireland in Cardiff (1-1). Kelsey was considered by many commentators to have the best goalkeeper at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden.
