The match ball from the first Cosmos home NASL game of the 1978 season v. Fort Lauderdale Strikers played at the Giants Stadium, New Jersey, 2nd April 1978, a French manufactured Adidas Official NASL soccer ball bearing the facsimile signature of Commissioner Phil Woosnam, the pentagon panels with white outlined red stars on a blue background, the ball bears the match identification in the hand of the Cosmos equipment manager Charles Martinelli, housed in a Lucite display box In a high scoring match, Cosmos beat the Strikers 7-3. The Cosmos goalscorers were Stephen Hunt, Giorgio Chinaglia & Vladislav Bogicevic. Provenance: The Charles Martinelli Collection. Former Equipment Manager of the New York Cosmos.
