That’s a wrap! We've reached the end of the auction and we’re busy tying up final bids behind the scenes. Thanks for being part of it — we’ll be in touch soon.
An 18ct. gold jockey whip mount inscribed ''Kingcraft Derby 1870'', by Callow & Son, Park Lane, London Kingcraft was owned by Lord Falmouth, trained by Mathew Dawson at Newmarket and ridden to victory in the 1870 Epsom Derby by Tom French at odds of 20-1. The history of the gold whip mount is unknown. But it is evidently a high class private commission from a top London maker and therefore plausible that it was a gift from Lord Falmouth to his Derby winning jockey Tom French.
