The illuminated diploma presented by The Football Association to Joe Mercer in recognition of his England appearances in 29 wartime & victory international matches between 1939 and 1946, signed by the Chairman of the Council, the Chairman of Selection Committee and F.A. Secretary, dated April 1946, mounted, framed & glazed, 47 by 38cm. No England caps were awarded during the wartime period. Instead the F.A. presented each player with an illuminated diploma.
