Joe Mercer Manchester City FC Football League Cup winner's tankard season 1969-70, silver plated, engraved with the crest of the Football League and inscribed THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE CUP, 1969-70, WINNERS, 13cm. Having led Aston Villa to victory in the inaugural 1960-61 Football League Cup, Joe Mercer won a second winner's tankard with Manchester City in 1970. On a terribly heavy Wembley pitch, City defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-1 coming from behind after a Jeff Astle 5th minute opener. The City goals were scored by Mike Doyle & Glyn Pardoe.
