A fine and very rare square-toe blacksmith's general iron circa 1700, with curved cut off blade attached to the thick, heavy ash shaft with a nail and saw-teeth nicking, period listing grip, 105cm., 41 1/4in. long with a 14.5cm. 5 3/4in. hosel, weight 690gr. 24 1/3 oz., the whole club is very similar to the iron sold at Sotheby's 13th July 1992 as lot 30 to the Patino Collection of Valderrama, and in all probability crafted by the same smith.
