A racing plate worn by Moon Madness winning The Cumberland Lodge Stakes, Ascot 1987, mounted on a silver-plated edged tray, with engraved plaque. Moon Madness was a winner of the St Leger in 1986, 21.2 x 16.5 cm. Moon Madness was bred in 1983 by Lavinia Duchess of Norfolk, trained at Arundel by John Dunlop and ridden in most of his races by Pat Eddery. During a four-year career, he ran 24 times, winning ten races, the most important of these being the 1986 St Leger at Doncaster. That same year he also won the King George V Stakes and the Scottish Derby at Ayr, and other victories included the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, Cumberland Lodge and Geoffrey Freer Stakes (all in 1987). He later stood as a stallion in Europe and Japan.
