A period black & white photograph believed to be of the Oxford University polo team circa 1904 featuring on the right the celebrated American player Devereux Milburn Sr., (1881-1942), the image 28 by 34cm., mounted ready for framing, overall 41 by 50cm., very good condition; sold together with a photographic plate with a portrait of the polo player Walter Buckmaster (published by Elliott & Fry), mounted ready for framing, overall 36 by 28cm.; and a further photographic plate portraying J Watson Webb (Price Picture, New York), unmounted, 42 by 26cm. (3 items) Devereux Milburn Sr., (1881 - 1942) an American player with a 10 goal handicap in 1917, played for Oxford as a undergraduate and Meadow Brook was his club. Winner of the U.S. Open Championship in 1916, 1919, 1920 and 1923 and the Monty Waterbury Cup.
